From Texas Fire to Alaska Smoke

The Pitmaster's Journey

Chad and Stephanie Higgins moved to Seward, Alaska in 2017 from Amarillo, Texas. Chad honed his grillin' skills while cooking for Shiner Bock and Miller Lite in the Lone Star State.

He wasn't just cooking in Texas — he also dedicated 22 years to the fire service. After seeing the lack of BBQ in their new northern home, Chad decided to shift his passion back to BBQ. The couple knew opening a BBQ joint in their Alaskan home would bring a little Texas to the Last Frontier.

Every brisket gets a 16-hour smoke. Every fire is built by hand using local birch and seasoned hickory. Every plate is served with the kind of pride you only find at a real pit, run by real people.

"Bold smoky flavor is always our goal."
